Description:

David Turock will present a side-by-side comparison of two telecommunications start-ups that he launched: one successful, and one not. He compares and contrasts their funding sources, agility and scalability of their business models, hiring practices, and more. His experience and lessons learned will be valuable for aspiring tech entrepreneurs. He finishes with how his interests have shifted to using technology to promote social and environmental causes.

President Barack Obama has identified attacks on the United States’ cybernetworks as “one of the most serious economic and national security threats our nation faces.” Due to the global implications of cyberattacks, the Cybersecurity Panel will seek to investigate the possible consequences of cyberwarfare and cyberterrorism, the effectiveness of current programs and policies, and the future of cybersecurity in the U.S. government and private enterprise.

Some federal agencies and companies are now requiring that IT candidates be certified in their discipline. Many companies and agencies that do not require certifications are now recognizing the value of a certified candidate. A certified candidate is demonstrating 2 things:
- a breadth and depth of knowledge of a particular discipline as it is practiced in the industry
